As medical moms, it can feel like every month brings another awareness ribbon — and honestly, many of them hit close to home. In this episode, we talk about the meaning behind all those awareness months and special days, the causes that matter most to our families, and how we choose to celebrate, educate, and sometimes just survive them. From social media campaigns to hospital hallway celebrations, we’ll share ideas for honoring these moments in ways that feel real, not performative — and maybe even a little fun. And, true to form, we take a few side conversations along the way, because when you live this life, awareness isn’t once a year... it’s every day.

In this episode, we dive into the world of the other kids — the siblings of medically complex children. These are the ones who’ve grown up in hospital waiting rooms, learned compassion beyond their years, and sometimes had to share their parents with doctors, nurses, and care teams. We talk about the big feelings they carry, the quiet strength they build, and the unique challenges they face along the way. From jealousy and guilt to empathy and pride, we unpack it all with real stories, expert insight, and a little humor (because medical families always find a way to laugh through the chaos). We’ll also share how parents can support these incredible siblings — through counseling, special one-on-one time, and finding meaningful, creative ways to celebrate their milestones too.

In this episode, we’re talking about the art of celebrating—medical mom style. From the tiny victories (like when your kid finally decides they will try that new food) to the huge milestones (surgeries, school days, or long-awaited milestones), we believe every win deserves a little joy… and maybe a slice of cake. We’ll share the creative, funny, and heartfelt ways we mark the moments that matter, even in the middle of the chaos. Because when life gives you medical challenges, you grab the sprinkles (maybe some glitter) and celebrate with love laughter and a bit of humor!

In this episode, we pause the hustle of appointments, paperwork, and advocacy to check in on ourselves. From juggling the chaos of back-to-school season to surviving the first wave of school colds (because of course the germs come home as fast as the homework), we’re taking our own vitals. We’ll talk about how we’re really doing, the emotional ups and downs of this season, and maybe laugh a little about the irony of sending kids to school only to have them bring back every virus in a 10-mile radius. Think of this as your permission slip to take a breath, grab some coffee (or tissues), and check in with us.

In this episode, we open up about the things we wish we could go back and whisper to ourselves in those early days of medical motherhood—the moments filled with fear, overwhelm, and so many unknowns. From learning medical jargon on the fly to discovering strength we didn’t know we had, we share the lessons, surprises, and truths that only come with time. Whether you’re just starting this journey or years down the road, this conversation is about reminding ourselves (and each other) that we were never as alone as we felt.

Ever wish someone handed you a cheat sheet before your first hospital stay? In this episode, we’re spilling the do’s and don’ts of hospital bag packing—straight from medical moms who’ve been there, done that, and learned what actually makes a difference. We’ll share the things we wish we’d known from the start: the comfort items that turn a sterile room into something livable, the practical must-haves that save your sanity, and the random stuff you’ll never use (looking at you, travel-sized lotion collection). From quick overnight visits to those marathon long stays, we’ll talk about how to pack smart without feeling like you’re moving in. Whether you’re brand new to this or already rocking the rolling suitcase, this episode will leave you a little more prepared—and hopefully laughing along the way.

They say laughter is the best medicine—and as medical moms, sometimes it’s the only prescription we’ve got. In this episode, we dive into the healing (and sometimes slightly inappropriate) power of humor in the hardest seasons. From laugh-so-hard-your-butt-hurts stories to the times we’ve cracked up at the “wrong” moments, we’ll talk about how dark humor helps us survive what most people can’t imagine. Along the way, we’ll explore the history of laughter as medicine, what science says about its physical and mental health benefits, and why finding the funny isn’t just survival—it’s a lifeline. Because sometimes the best therapy doesn’t come in a pill bottle…it comes with punchlines.

In this episode, we dive into the world of sensory-friendly spaces—those magical little pockets of calm tucked inside the chaos of public places. From quiet museum hours to designated sensory rooms, we talk about why they matter, how they help, and what it feels like to finally breathe in a space that isn’t buzzing, flashing, and blaring at full volume.
These spaces aren’t just about calm, though—they’re about belonging. They’re safe, judgment-free zones where families can show up as they are, without side-eyes or whispered comments. Plus, many sensory programs are designed to ease the financial burden for special needs families, making outings more accessible (and a little less wallet-draining).
We also get into the difference between sensory seekers and sensory avoiders—because sometimes one kid wants to climb the walls while the other needs absolute quiet. (Yes, it’s possible to have both happening at the same time—fun times for parents!) That’s why these programs matter so much and we wish that they could create opportunities for both kinds of kids to have their needs met and their own special time.
We’ll share our own experiences, the wins (and a few fails), and why these spaces aren’t just nice extras—they’re essential. And yes, we’ll admit it: sometimes the sensory room isn’t just for the kids… moms need that peace and quiet too!

Medical motherhood is not for the faint of heart—it’s full of hospital runs, appointment marathons, and emotional rollercoasters most people can’t see. In this episode, we get vulnerable, real, and yes… a little emotional as we open up about what true support looks like for medical moms—beyond the “let me know if you need anything” line. We share the words that comfort instead of hurt, the actions that actually lighten the load, and the small, thoughtful gestures that make a big difference. Whether you’re a friend, family member, or fellow medical parent, you’ll walk away with practical ways to show up for the medical moms in your life—because support isn’t just a feeling, it’s something you do.
